This year is the 50th anniversary of 1968: a ‘Year of Revolt’ across Europe and the United States. In this Dialogue, NYU Florence lecturer Vito Zagarrio will examine how 1968 has been represented in film. Italian directors such as Marco Bellocchio and Bernardo Bertolucci explored the Italian ‘revolution’ in personal mores, the structure of the family, education, and gender relations. How has the ideology of 1968 influenced different generations of filmmakers? Has it been represented differently in Italy and the United States?
