This dialogue between leading literary editor John Freeman and Somali British author Nadifa Mohamed will focus on the role and profession of a literary editor today, the relevance of literary magazines, such as Freeman’s, in the context of contemporary European and American societies, and the possible relationship between American and Italian publishing industries since contemporary Italian literature has gained renewed visibility thanks to the success of Italian writer Elena Ferrante. The dialogue will be moderated by NYU Florence lecturer Alessandro Raveggi as part of Freeman’s Italian tour in occasion of his magazine’s first Italian translation, published in Florence by Black Coffee editions.
