Since Roman times, water has been an essential element for the city of Florence. Water has inspired writers, poets, painters, architects and landscape gardeners. Many artists have found their inspiration in water: Boccaccio set the story of Calandrino and the search for the Heliothrope on the Mugnone river, villas and gardens have been built on the banks of important rivers such as the Mensola, the Affrico and the Arno; fountains adorn the squares and public areas. A different perspective on Florence and its beauties is offered by the documentary Firenze città d’acque. Storie d’acqua e miti per raccontare una città. The projection of the documentary is followed by two subsequent visits.
Followed by a conversation with Massimo Becattini (Film director), Rossella Catanese (NYU Florence lecturer), moderated by Francesca Baldry (Villa La Pietra Collection manager), and introduced by Nicoletta Peluffo (NYU Florence, Assistnt Director for Academic Services).
Sandro Nardoni and Luciano Nocentini will also be present to answer any question from the audience.

DOCUMENTARY DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER
Laurea in Architettura, si è da sempre dedicato professionalmente alla divulgazione di tematiche legate all’arte e alla storia attraverso il mezzo cinematografico. Insieme al gruppo della “Scuola di Firenze”, che comprendeva artisti e architetti, ha partecipato con numerosi lavori alla stagione del “Cinema d’Artista”. Svolge attività di regista e produttore di film documentari destinati alla programmazione televisiva nazionale o commissionati da Enti pubblici, attraverso il proprio studio Film Documentari d’Arte. Si occupa del recupero e del restauro del cinema d’animazione storico in Italia con la Cineteca Nazionale e con RAI.ERI.
