Visit to the Photo Archive, on-site talk and lunch.Three moments in time: the Acton era, NYU re-display and the special temporary exhibition now on view. Students will discuss with the collection manager limitations and potentiality of a home transformed into a house-museum.
MUSEUM MEETINGS is a series of conversations about art and museums that includes sessions about collecting, display, art techniques, conservation, and the role of museums in today’s society. Museums are not, to paraphrase Quatremère de Quincy, “tombs for works of art”, but rather living and evolving bodies that gather memories and look to the future. Francesca Baldry, Collection Manager of the Acton Collection, will encourage students to engage in critical discussions and to play an active role when visiting museums and galleries or when meeting museum professionals.
