Exhibition Opening – April 27
A two-part exhibition by Donato Nitti presents Roots and Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote, two interconnected series that examine the evolving relationship between humanity, nature, and time.
In Roots, the artist reflects on the deep, ancestral bond between human existence and the natural world—a connection increasingly strained by contemporary ecological crises. The works evoke both intimacy and fragility, foregrounding the tension between belonging and destruction.
Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote takes its conceptual framework from Jorge Luis Borges’ celebrated short story, centered on the fictional figure Pierre Menard, who undertakes the impossible task of rewriting Don Quixote word for word. Through this paradoxical act, Borges reveals how meaning is reshaped by context, authorship, and time.
Drawing on this literary reference, Nitti extends the notion of reinterpretation into the visual realm. Through digital media, the artist “rewrites” the ongoing narrative between humanity and nature, constructing images that echo, transform, and recontextualize this enduring relationship.
Together, the two series form a cohesive inquiry into how time, memory, and technological mediation alter our understanding of both the natural world and our place within it.
