If professional photography is carried out, New York University shall be given copies of color slides, the negatives, and/or a print of each image. Digital photography or video shall be supplied on CD or DVD. Furthermore, in the case of publication, one copy shall be sent to the Collection Office, New York University, Villa La Pietra, Via Bolognese 120, 50139 - Firenze, Italy.
In granting reproduction rights for images from the Acton Collection, Library, or Archives, New York University acts only as owner of the physical originals and takes no responsibility for any possible infringement of copyright laws in the publication of the material. New York University can only grant you permission to reproduce an image of an item in its possession; it cannot give you legal, literary rights to publish the material. It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain copyright permissions from third parties where applicable. Such rights you or your publisher must obtain in a formal, legal statement from the heirs or executors of such materials as you may wish to publish.
If the image or images are to be used in a publication, the credit line must either read: © New York University, Acton Collection, Villa La Pietra, Florence or an alternative credit line will be discussed with and specified in advance by New York University. I agree that New York University shall retain copyright over these photographs. Such photographs will be used only for the single use as specified herein. I understand that these photographs may not be published without the express written consent of New York University.
