Villa La Pietra, the former home of the Acton family, is open to the public on a limited basis.
Guided tours of the Villa, the Collection, and Garden are offered on Friday afternoons. Requests to join a tour must be made in advance and will only be confirmed once a total of 6 guests is reached for the tour in question. Bookings may be made by e-mail, phone, fax, or by filling in the Villa La Pietra Tour Request Form. The tour costs € 20,00 per person, but there is no charge for ICOM members and children under the age of 7.
Guided tours of the Gardens-only are are also offered on Friday afternoons. Again, requests to join a tour must be made in advance and will only be confirmed once a total of 6 guests is reached for the tour in question. Bookings may be made by e-mail, phone, fax, or by filling in the Villa La Pietra Tour Request Form. The entrance fee for this tour is €15,00 per person, but there is no charge for ICOM members and children under the age of 7.
Tours are not available in August or between mid-December and mid-January. Tours will also not be scheduled on May 15.
Villa La Pietra remains closed at the weekends and on national holidays but special, exclusive, tours may be scheduled on regular weekdays. Please write to villa.lapietra@nyu.edu for more information.

La Villa ed il Giardino sono chiusi nel mese di Agosto e durante la pausa invernale (metà Dicembre a metà Gennaio), e anche il 15 Maggio non verranno organizzati tour.

During the year, a number of special Open Days are held at Villa La Pietra. Registration for the free guided tours held on these days begins one month prior to the tour dates.
Tours of the house and garden include an introduction to the Villa’s history, the Acton family’s art collection and the historic garden they created. The calendar of Open Days for 2026 is as follows:

Durante l’anno, Villa La Pietra sarà visitabile gratuitamente durante le Open days, giorni di apertura straordinaria, per le quali è possibile prenotarsi non prima di un mese prima.

Via Bolognese is a short distance from Piazza della Libertà (see map above) and Villa La Pietra is at nr. 120. Please do not rely on GPS to find our location because the information they provide is mostly incorrect, Via de’ Bruni, for example, is not where it is indiacated.

Arrivals from the Florence railway station (Santa Maria Novella), located in the city center may either take a taxi to La Pietra (journey time is less than 20 minutes) or the Autolinee Toscane bus no. 25 from Piazza della Libertà (getting off at the “La Pietra 1” stop, just beyond the gate of the Villa).

By Plane/Bus
Arrivals from the Florence airport “Amerigo Vespucci” may either take a taxi to La Pietra (journey time is less than 30 minutes) or the T2 Tramway from the airport to the Florence railway station “Santa Maria Novella” (journey time is approximately 20 minutes). The closest stop on the Autolinee Toscane bus no. 25 from Piazza della Libertà is the “La Pietra1” stop, just beyond the gate of the Villa.
