Villa Sassetti

War, displacement, and economic instability are driving larger numbers of people to abandon their homes in places like Syria, Eritrea, and Mali, and to seek refuge in Europe. This dialogue aims to explore the issues surrounding immigration, how it affects people on the ground, what the perception of Italian citizens is on immigration, and what efforts the Italian and EU governments are making to aid these refugees. Guests will include Beat Schuler, Senior Protection Officer, Federico Soda, Director of the IOM Rome, and Christopher Hein, Director of the Italian Council for Refugees. This dialogue is organized and will be moderated by NYU Florence student, Claudia Cereceda.
