The visual images found in Villa La Pietra had been stored by the Actons in a haphazard way, some in albums, and others in drawers, hat boxes, and cupboards, or mixed up with correspondence.
After the task of identifying them had been completed they were sorted into series for easy consultation, preserved in special Mylar and polypropylene envelopes, and stored in acid-free binders and boxes. Each of them was given a number which corresponds to their series numbersĀ and their location in the archive. These have been listed in a finding aid in which each photograph is identified with a brief description, and dated where possible.
